Vernicka is the son of Daidalos. Merchant Sarrah had a close relationship with Vernicka and told Player about Vernicka's past and how he was taken in as a foster son by the former President. When Shalica went on a journey when she was 15 and promise to come back after seeing the world, Vernicka took her place and became the President of Merca after the former President passed away.
History[]
Player first met Vernicka upon Hiver's request to help him carry out the truce agreement. Vernicka agreed to join hands with the Anti-Goddess Faction after Player bring him back a Goldstone Tears from Broken Goldstone Canyon.
When Player went to Merca with Arc to find clues about the Cup of Healing, Vernicka heard from his spies that Player has came back to Merca. Player went to Merca's Headquarter to meet with Vernicka and he suggest Player to bring Grele to Merca due to Child Mamon seem to be watching the area in Southern Lands. Without knowing Vernicka is planning something behind their back, Player and Arc slowly unravel the truth behind the devices left in Distorted Zone. When Grele senses Hiver is in Distorted Zone, he rushes to the Distorted Zone. Grele attacked Mamon to stop her from trying to harm Hiver. The moment Mamon got up, Hiver pushes Grele to Mamon and escaped. Seeing Grele got badly hurt, Player was furious and went to confront Vernicka.
After gaining a clue from Rubinart's apparition, Player went to look for Vernicka to ask for his aid to go to Chiron Island. When Vernicka found out that Player has broke his promise not to take Grele to Chiron Island, Vernicka has cut-off all aids to the Anti-Goddess Faction. It was later revealed that he had sent a spy who pretend to be a fisherman to follow them because he was suspicious of the mysterious woman who had helped them. After the spy convey the message from the mysterious woman, Vernicka withdrew his suspicion and continue to provide aid to the Anti-Goddess Faction.
The Edart Empire had found evidence that Vernicka is in cahoot with the Anti-Goddess Faction and revoke the neutral state of Merca. Norfe didn't expect the refugees near Merca would give him away. After Player talk to Norfe and decides to help Merca, Player went to talk to Vernicka and learnt that he had planned to have a peaceful annexion with a Child Lord. Player disapproves Vernicka's plan and shared with him about Norfe's thoughts.
After Player went to meet Lica at Chiron Beach to bring her back to Merca for safety, Player went to Merca's Headquarter and saw Vernicka and Lica were talking and surprised that they knew each other. Vernicka reveal to Player that Shalica is the only daughter of the former Merca President and his real heir who suppose to take his place as the Merca's President. Shalica reveal her real reasons to Player on how she left her position in Vernicka's hands to search for a legendary relic that is said to be somewhere in Chiron Island and how she is unable to return back to Merca's Heart after a long time is to find evidence and proof that the relic is really exist.
After the Merca's Guard passed on Child Hirendel's letter to Vernicka, Vernicka instantly saw through it as a trap while Shalica likewise decide to use it to their advantage to go to the deepest part of Chiron Island. After Shalica manage to convince Vernicka to accept Hirendel's invitation to Phantom Forest, Shalica whisper and told Player not to be surprised for whatever is going to happen. Player was left confused by Shalica's words and follow them to Phantom Forest.
Upon arriving at the meeting place in Phantom Forest, Vernicka was caught in a trap and Hirendel mocked at them on how they stupidly fall into his obvious trap. Shalica step forward and reveal her real identity to Hirendel and taunt Hirendel that if he want to capture someone as hostage, he should be capturing her; the real heir instead of Vernicka. Vernicka tried to stop Shalica from offering herself as hostage but failed and watch helplessly when Shalica was taken hostage by Hirendel. Player went back to Merca with Vernicka and Grele to devise a plan to save Shalica. They went to Vernicka after talking to Norfe, Vernicka declare that he will not sit back and do nothing and make it clear to Player that the ones going into battle with Hirendel will be the Anti-Goddess Faction and when Shalica is safely returned, Merca's Heart will welcome the refugees from Rhadames and become strong allies with the Anti-Goddess Faction.
Player visits Vernicka as per Norfe's suggestion to let him know about Shalica's news. Vernicka was displeased when he saw Player came back alone and left Shalica all alone in Chiron Island. Player explained to Vernicka to calm him down that they have defeated Hirendel and Chiron Island is safe for Shalica to investigate. Vernicka felt disbelief to believe Player had defeated Hirendel and remarked Hirendel's defeat must have annoyed General Kyle which Player recall a mysterious Child had appear to take Hirendel away.
After Shalica have found the relic and restore it with Norfe's help, Merca's Heart have become one of the independent states in Mistland free from Childs. It was later revealed from Kid Geraint that Vernicka isn't ready for being a leader of the Independent State of Merca and wanted Shalica to remained station in Merca.
After hearing about what happen to Shalica from Vandar, Vernicka was furious and does not want to fight quietly against Goddess Vestinel anymore and decides to fully join hands with the Anti-Goddess Faction to bring peace and save the peoples in Mistland from the Child's oppression.
Shadow of Hope[]
Norfe later sends Player and Grele to Merca to deliver a letter to Vernicka. At first Player was reluctant to go consider how Vernicka would react after finding out what happen to Shalica. Norfe reassured Player that although Vernicka may be cold, but he will not do anything to harm Player and send Grele to go with Player for a reason.
Upon meeting face to face with Vernicka at Merca's Headquarter, Player went speechless and doesn't know what to say to Vernicka. Vernicka coldly replied saying Player is of no worth to talk to at the moment. Seeing how Vernicka treated Player rudely, Grele was unable to control his anger and said what happen to Shalica its not Player fault and blamed himself for being weak. Vernicka respond coldly and said the hope of the Anti-Goddess Faction now lament in front of him on how weak he is. Grele's anger inside of him becomes uncontrollable and declares that he will kill him. Vernicka remains calm and not flinch by Grele's sudden declaration of wanting to kill him. Vernicka was amazed at how Grele was able to get hold of himself and calms down and said this is the hope of the Anti-Goddess Faction and he has been clinging a small hope that Shalica could become a Mutant Child like Grele. Vernicka seem to have guessed the reason why Norfe sends Grele to come along with Player to him and to show him how Grele has grown to become a strong Mutant Child to the Anti-Goddess Faction. Vernicka hands over 2 letters to Player to pass to Honest Merchant Pero and Merchant Gilbert.
When Player passes the letter to Pero, Pero was bewildered at the number of resources Vernicka is providing to the Anti-Goddess Faction and wonders what causes a change of heart for Vernicka to fully supports the Anti-Goddess Faction.
In Asleep in the Plains side quest, Player went to visit Vernicka to let him know about Shalica's news. Vernicka was initially displeased when Player couldn't bring Shalica back to Merca to recuperate and accepts the facts that Shalica needed rest after what she has gone through when she was being capture and bewitched by Child Hiver. Vernicka changes the topic on what happen at Frozen Dragon Nest and took out the ice flower and hand it over to Player, He told Player that he is grateful for everything Grele has done and ask Player to pay its last respect to him on his behalf.
News from the Desert[]
Vandar went to Merca to bring Shalica's news to Vernicka. After hearing what Vandar had said about how the Cup of Healing transferred all the jewels attributes to Shalica, Vernicka turns serious as there is one more pressing matter to address: How is Vandar going to report back to Commander Hwaran of this situation? Vernicka and Vandar began to brainstorm of a possible excuse to hide Shalica's existence from Hwaran. Vandar bring up Kid Geraint whom he initially thought he is a Child similar to Rubinart. Vernicka give a detailed explanation of who Kid Geraint really is. Vandar decides to use Kid Geraint in his reporting to Hwaran knowing it might upset Kali but they leave with no other choice.
Trivia[]
- Although Vandar is helping the Anti-Goddess Faction, Player and Norfe doesn't seem to know about the relationship between Vandar and Vernicka.
- Vandar and Vernicka knew each other at a young age, it is unknown on how they met each other.
