The Vandar is the tenth base class to be released in Dragon Nest and the fourth male class to be introduced. First to be released in the Korean servers on June 18th, 2020, this class specializes in using a battle sword and wristbow to deal physical and magical damage to enemies.

Vandar 2nd Skill Path Specialization Wanderer was released in the Korean Servers on Sept 2023. Wanderer specializes in physical attacks based on the Strength stat.

Background

A street urchin abandoned at birth, Vandar survived many fierce battles and countesses brushes with death. He earned the reputation of being a powerful mercenary until a curse drastically reduced his lifespan during his final mission, a mission he only survived due to the blessings of the Red Dragon. Now on borrowed time, the Mistland's greatest hero set out on a life for death journey to find the Cup of Healing.

History

Vandar was a wandering Mercenary until he was invited to join Pymon by Kanna. It was later reveal in the Main Quests that he had worked with Mamon before. When the Captain of Pymon join forces with the Army of Destruction, he received direct orders from Commander Kyle during his time in the Army of Destruction. After the Captain of Pymon was killed at the Monolith, Vandar left Pymon and the Army of Destruction.

Vandar is an old friend of Vernicka and Shalica. He learnt about the Anti-Goddess Faction from Vernicka when he was visiting him at the Merca's Headquarter as well as Kali, the adventurer from Lagendia. After Shalica was taken hostage by Hirendel, Vandar is trying to find a way to enter Hirendel's Nest to save Shalica. Upon arriving at Hirendel's Nest, Vandar collapsed due to the curse in his body and met Commander Kyle. When he couldn't move due to Kyle's power was restraining him, he received an order from Kyle to help the Anti-Goddess Faction to look for the Cup of Healing in the Red Lotus Palace Treasure Vault.

While receiving Hwaran's orders to go to the Western Territory to help Child Hiver, Vandar remember Kyle's order to help the Anti-Goddess Faction. At first Kali and the rest of the peoples were wary of Vandar due to he was under Hwaran's order to come to Rhadames. After seeing Vandar save Rhadames in a nick of time from the Child invasion led by Child Hiver, Kali and its group decides to put their trust in Vandar.

After the events at the Frozen Dragon Nest, Vandar received a message from Kanna about Ocean Pearl asking for a meeting with Vandar. It was later reveal that Vandar's curse was Monolith poison and he began a new journey searching for the Ancient Ark which is said to have an answer to the curse on his right eye.

While searching for the Ark in Milla Laurel, Vandar come across a mysterious woman named Labynia who seem to be interested in Vandar's strength whether if he can kill the Bone Dragon. After Vandar and Kali defeated the Bone Dragon, they were brought to the Ark Control Room by Rose whom later revived Pakiha after he sacrificed himself into the Cup of Healing. Rose talk to Vandar privately and ask him why did he chose to help them since he was a Mistlander. After hearing about Vandar's determination to learn more about the curse he had on his right eye, Rose decides to help Vandar to find out more about the curse.

Vandar went to Lunascent of the past with Rose's help and met his Lagendia's counterpart: Halfmoon. Vandar learnt the curse was originally put on Halfmoon by the Ancients who are plotting to kill Rubinart. Halfmoon died from his curse when he told Rubinart about the Ancient's plan and the curse has been passed on to his Mistland's counterpart.

A treasure hunter who honed their skills with the sword and wristbow as a mercenary. Sees any and every mission through to the end.

The Wanderer excels at melee combat using a broadsword and wristbow as main weapons.

Trivia

• The Vandar is currently the only class who starts in Red Lotus Palace, breaking the tradition of starting in Prairie Town or Mana Ridge. New Vandars also begin the game at level 90.
• The Vandar is currently the only class with individually modelled and rigged fingers.
• The Vandar might be the oldest playable character, as he's stated to be in his late 20 or early 30.
• Vandar seem to have many unpleasant memories in Loser's Exile Place. It is unknown if he was the child of Alberto and Suryon in the Lamplight ghost side quest.
• When Vandar meet Labynia for the first time, she seems to know the relationship between Vandar and Kyle very well by calling Vandar as “Kyle’s toy” and “Kyle’s plaything”.
